Free crochet cardigan pattern … Slightly adapted for the ‘catwalk’!

I am loving this technological world!!!

My free crochet baby cardigan pattern is proving to be exceptionally popular and I absolutely love hearing from everyone that uses it!

20121022-234421.jpg

Thank you so much everyone for all of the positive feedback!

Well, tonight I decided to adapt the sizing of the pattern …

20121022-234334.jpg

Fu is such a poser! She absolutely loves it! I couldn’t take it off her, and when I did finally manage to … She sat there pawing at the tiny cardigan as if asking me to put it back on, the rolled onto her back in my arms, just like how I put it on her! Hehehe! Crazy kitty! X

So here are some pictures, bearing in mind it is dark and the flash on my iPhone was blinding Fu … She really wasn’t plotting to kill me!

20121022-234848.jpg

I think I may have to make her a few more!

I also made To (Toe) a hoody as he is a boy, but its a tad too big for him, but, he is growing really fast … So in time he will be a model too! Bless x

Fabric Teddy Bear Kit

20121011-202354.jpg

Yet another productive day! I am so proud to have been able to knuckle down! I am making the most of this creative burst whilst it lasts!

So I also managed to make a fabric bear and photograph every step! So now I will have two different teddy bear kits to offer on my website.

20121011-202634.jpg

20121011-202657.jpg

I also managed to write up 2107 words of instructions! Phew! Busy bunny!

20121011-202755.jpg

Now I have the task of laying out the pages for the step by step tutorials and placing over 400 pictures after spending nearly three hours editing and cropping every photo! It’s a good job I love doing this!

Here are a few of the images.

20121011-203102.jpg

20121011-203126.jpg

20121011-203152.jpg

Do you think £29.99 is a fair price for the kit? It includes everything you need to make the bear and you get to choose your fabrics.

Teddy complete! Pattern next!

20121010-103538.jpg
One completed teddy!

So my productivity has been fab over the past few days, I have designed a pattern and made a teddy, plus taken photos of every step to put it all together in a step by step kit to sell on my website.

The kit will include:
All materials (that you choose from a selection… Truly a bespoke bear!)
Safety eyes and nose
Toy stuffing
Needles
Pins
Threads
Pencil
Pattern (on trace so you can match up patterns and grains easily)
Arm, leg and head joints ( so it will be a full jointed and possible bear)
Photo tutorial step by step
Detailed instructions

They will be categorised in a difficulty rating as it is far easier and less time is needed to make a fabric bear. A fabric bear would take around 4 hours from start to finish, whereas a fur bear could take up to 10hours if you are hand stitching.

I intend to sell just the pattern too as both a PDF and paper pattern, so you can use what supplies you may already have.

This is where I need your comments and suggestions 🙂

Pricing … Is it realistic?

PDF pattern sent via email £3.50
Paper pattern sent by snail mail with free postage £5.50
Full kit £29.99 plus postage of £5 within the uk and £10 worldwide

Would you buy the kit? It is suitable for 11+ so it could make a lovely Christmas present for a budding creative!

Also any suggestions for improvements would be much appreciated!

Busy, busy, busy! Creating a teddy bear sewing pattern

I have had such a fantastic and productive day today! I am really happy with what I have achieved and I am really excited about what I have planned for tomorrow!

My partner is AMAZING on photoshop… Seriously! I am in awe.. All the shortcuts and magic he can do on that program! I was a very slow learner… But he hung in there and helped me so much in creating my first PDF pattern!

20121008-211740.jpg

I went to the printers at lunch today and I am so proud of how it has turned out! I have even had it printed on tracing paper so you can make sure your grain line is perfectly set, or if you have a patterned fabric it is perfectly aligned. It looks really professional! I don’t know why I am surprised by that as I am a professional! Hehehe!

I will be selling the PDF on my website , and tomorrow I will be making the teddy bear, taking photos and writing step by step instructions.

It seems as if I am having a very productive time and creative burst so, I intend to hang in there as long as it lasts … Hopefully I will achieve my ambition of publishing a craft book one day soon!

Free tutorial: Crazy patchwork

Here is another fun craft to try 🙂

20121006-175136.jpg
Choose complimentary fabrics

20121006-175239.jpg
Cut a square the size you want of a base fabric ( it does not matter what you use as long as it doesn’t stretch as you will not see it when finished)

20121006-175440.jpg
Cut a triangle of fabric and place in the centre of the large square you just cut for the base fabric. Place the triangle with the right side of the fabric facing the base fabric.

20121006-175703.jpg
Sew a 1.5cm seam allowance.

20121006-175757.jpg
Fold triangle of fabric over to hide the seam just created.

20121006-175854.jpg
Cut a second triangle of fabric.

20121006-175940.jpg
Place on top of other triangle right side facing down with sides matched.

20121006-180058.jpg
Sew a 1.5 seam allowance.

20121006-180145.jpg

20121006-180209.jpg
Fold triangle over to hide seam just created.

20121006-180317.jpg
Repeat all around in circles with different fabric triangles. You can add trims and ribbons too.

20121006-181331.jpg

20121006-181403.jpg

20121006-181417.jpg
When your triangles start to overlap the edge of the base fabric, stitch the edges together to secure the layers … Then trim off the excess.

20121006-181604.jpg
Keep going!

20121006-181644.jpg

20121006-181704.jpg
Trim all of the excess to match the base fabric.

20121006-181745.jpg
Ta da!!!

I went on to make my piece more elaborate and beautiful by adding lots of embroidery, sequins, beads, Suffolk puffs (yo-yo’s) and other fab textiley stuff. I then made it into a cushion after many hours of labour.
